One-north research hub publishes open toolkit for photonic chip testing
Researchers at a one-north photonics lab published an open-source calibration toolkit on Thursday, allowing university teams and startups to validate chip designs before committing to full fabrication runs. The release includes Python scripts, annotated test patterns, and a plain-language methods guide aimed at engineers who do not specialise in quantum hardware.
Project lead Dr Priya Menon said the goal is to reduce iteration cost for firms that cannot afford dedicated clean-room time every quarter. Early adopters in Fusionopolis report cutting prototype cycles from twelve weeks to seven by catching alignment errors earlier in the pipeline.
The toolkit integrates with common oscilloscope exports and does not require cloud upload, addressing concerns from teams handling export-controlled designs. Documentation is licensed for commercial use with attribution.
Enterprise Singapore confirmed a follow-on grant window for SMEs that adopt the toolkit and document reproducibility across two design revisions. Applications open in September.
