Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2026-08-25
This Cookie Policy explains how NewsRipple ("we") uses cookies and similar technologies on newsripple.life. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help sites remember preferences, keep sessions secure, and — if you allow — understand how pages are used. Similar technologies include local storage entries we use to mirror consent choices when cookies are blocked.
How we use cookies
Essential cookies. Required for basic operation. We store your cookie consent decision so the banner does not appear on every page load. These cannot be disabled through our banner because the site needs to remember your choice.
Functional cookies (optional). If you enable them, we may remember non-critical interface preferences such as collapsed navigation state. We currently keep functional use minimal.
Analytics cookies (optional). If you enable them, we may use privacy-oriented analytics to count page views in aggregate. We do not use analytics cookies to serve third-party advertising on this site.
Third-party cookies
Google Maps embedded on our contact page may set cookies when you interact with the map or when Google loads tiles. Those cookies are controlled by Google. Font files loaded from Google Fonts may involve network requests to Google servers; we selected display fonts for readability and performance.
Managing preferences
When you first visit, a banner offers Accept all, Reject optional, or Customise. You may reopen settings anytime via "Cookie settings" in the footer. You can also clear cookies through your browser settings; doing so will reset preferences and show the banner again.
Cookie list
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| newsripple_consent | Stores consent preferences | Up to 180 days |
Browser controls
Major browsers let you block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or delete stored cookies on exit. Instructions vary: Chrome Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies; Firefox Settings → Privacy & Security; Safari Preferences → Privacy; Edge Settings → Cookies and site permissions. Blocking essential cookies may prevent the consent banner from remembering your choice.
Local storage
We mirror consent JSON in localStorage when available so preferences persist if you clear session cookies but not site data. Clearing all site data resets preferences and redisplays the banner.
Duration and expiry
Consent cookies expire after one hundred eighty days unless you clear them sooner. Each visit resets the expiry timer when consent is reaffirmed. Rejecting optional cookies stores a record that functional and analytics flags are false.
No advertising cookies
NewsRipple does not set advertising or retargeting cookies. We do not participate in real-time bidding or cross-site profile building for ad sales.
Future changes
If we add comment widgets, newsletter signup, or subscriber paywalls, those features may introduce additional cookies. We will update this policy and request fresh consent where required before activating non-essential tools.
Consent withdrawal
You may withdraw consent for optional cookies at any time via footer settings. Withdrawal does not affect lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. Essential cookies remain necessary for storing the withdrawal record itself.
Examples of optional cookie use
If you enable analytics cookies, we may count how many readers open business versus culture sections in aggregate. We do not combine that data with contact form identities. If you enable functional cookies, we may remember that you collapsed the mobile navigation menu during a session so the next page loads in the same state.
This policy is reviewed at least once per year or when we change hosting providers.
