Punggol regional library adds silent maker pods for student study groups
NLB opened twelve silent maker pods at Punggol Regional Library, bookable in ninety-minute blocks for student study groups preparing project presentations. Each pod includes a whiteboard, six power outlets, and acoustic panels rated for conversational volume only—recording equipment is not permitted.
Staff trained student ambassadors to help first-time users with booking kiosks. Pods are free but require a library membership card swipe for access control during exam seasons.
Adjacent shelves hold curated engineering and design reference sets refreshed monthly. A small display chronicles Punggol's development from fishing villages to housing town without sensational imagery.
